Since this week seems to be dedicated to The “Learning” Channel’s apparent attempt to promote police brutality through their advertising campaign for the “Police Women of Broward County” series, I figured it would be interesting to see how TLC would apply their pro-brutality advertising campaign, which includes gems like “Taser Time!“, “Cavity Search Anyone?” and “It’s always a good time to taser someone!” to other acts of police misconduct elsewhere.
So, let’s see how TLC would likely describe a few of the over 100 stories of police misconduct we recorded this week through the National Police Misconduct Reporting Project News Feed on Twitter:
It’s Always a Good Time to Brag about being a Homicidal Cop!
While everyone has heard about Bolingbrook IL police officer Drew Peterson who is accused of murdering at least one of his wives, nobody has really been talking about Lafayette Georgia police officer Sam Parker who is currently on trial for allegedly killing was found guilty of murdering his police dispatcher wife who went missing in March of 2007. During the trial, now in day 10, witnesses testified that Parker loved to brag about killing people and even kept trophies and photos commemorating his kills including a slug pulled from the skull of a person he shot while on duty. He also apparently loved to brag about how psychologists diagnosed him as “suicidal/homicidal” after a parking lot shooting incident.
Subdural Hematoma Anyone?
Minneapolis Minnesota has decided to settle a police brutality lawsuit for nearly $500,000 to a man who was getting his mail in his apartment hallway when several police officers stopped him. When he approached as ordered one officer punched him so hard in the face that he shit himself and then another officer jabbed him in the gut with a baton for good measure. The man ended up having to get two surgeries to relieve pressure in his brain due to the blow after he was found by neighbors in a semi-conscious state after laying on the floor for about a day. His crime? He lived a few doors down from the subject of an arrest warrant.
It’s always a good time to taser someone to death
In Tarrant County Texas a Medical Examiner has ruled that an in-custody death was a homicide by taser after police had tasered a young man for 49 seconds and then gave him a second jolt for the standard 5 seconds. The young man who died and could not be revived by paramedics had tested negative for any drug use… so much for the “excited delirium” excuse.
Choke a 6th grader for being shy on picture day time!
In Dougherty County Georgia a school resource officer is being investigated for using excessive force for grabbing an 11 year old girl by the throat, slamming her to the floor, and then taking a knee on her stomach and back to arrest her. The little girl’s crime? She had refused to have her picture taken on picture day because her hair wasn’t done right. Way to show those hardened criminals a little street justice, huh?
It’s always a good time to have a junky in charge of a police department
In Mercer West Virginia the sheriff there, who was also a doctor, plead guilty to federal charges of possession and for fraudulently obtaining Oxycodone and Xanax that he had claimed was for patients but ultimately were to feed his own addition. That addiction cost taxpayers nearly $5,000 that the sheriff had taken from the CCW permit fund that he used to pay for his drug habit… wonder how many people he had arrested for doing the same thing he did?
Fraud Time!
A Miami Florida police officer is facing federal charges of wire fraud and conspiracy after an investigation found that he and a few of his friends where using inside information to fraudulently claim over $14k in Crime Stoppers reward money. The officer, in charge of dispersing money in that reward program, would send his pals details via text messages and they would pick up the cash, one had picked up four rewards in one day.
It’s Always a Good Time To Beat Up Some Grandparents!
West Virginia State Police are being sued for excessive force, wrongful arrest, and denial of medical care after they beat and arrested some grandparents in front of their children and grandchildren. Apparently the cops thought they had kidnapped one of the kids even after the child’s mom expressly told the police the grandparents were innocent. They were denied treatment for injuries and diabetes for days and ultimately were kicked out of their home by a landlord who now thinks they are kidnappers.
Child Molestation Time!
An Olney Texas police officer was arrested in Dallas Texas after being indicted in May of two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact. He was accused of forcing a young girl to fondle him while he folndled her in October of 2008 while he was still an Olney police officer. Investigators and police had trouble finding the officer but the Dallas PD Child Sex Exploitation unit finally found him.
It’s always a good time to help molest a child
A Waterbury Connecticut police officer who retired in May is accused of handcuffing a teenage boy so that a now convicted rapist & kidnapper could molest him with a sex toy in his electronics shop while the officer allegedly took pictures. The boy reported the incident in 2006 but police ignored him but he did testify in the recent criminal case against the rapist where he was convicted. While the officer’s involvement wasn’t delved into during the criminal trial, the boy’s attorney has filed suit against the city for ignoring the incident and allowing the officer to remain on the force all this time.
Drive-By Shooting Anyone?
Two Oklahoma City Oklahoma police officers have been arrested on felony “Drive-By” shooting charges that are usually only reserved for “gangbangers”. But prosecutors say that if this is how police officers act, that’s how they’ll be treated. The incident apparently occurred outside of a strip club where the two had been confronted by staff for throwing beer bottles at people and, once confronted, threatened to show the security staff their “baby-glocks” and fired off rounds at a crowd as they drove away.
Thumper Time!
In Greece New York a police sergeant was fired and another sergeant was demoted for unspecified reasons. However, the demoted officer isn’t a stranger to the news as he is currently the subject of a lawsuit alleging that he’s assaulted at least 13 different women during traffic stops and, in at least one case, sexually molested them in the presence of other Greece NY officers. So well known for his abuse towards the women that he stops he allegedly earned a nickname for it… He’s known as “Thumper”.

I watched a few minutes of The Womanoid Cops of Broward, flipping back and forth between that and something else. I wanted to see if it varied from the other thousand cop shows that are on 24/7. But no – there was the usual “plot” – cops humiliating, belittling, dehumanizing, and brutalizing blacks and other minorities, but mostly blacks, for the non-crime, the ridiculous pretend crime of “doing drugs.” Wait! How did that white guy get on there? Oh, I see; he’s poor, diseased, filthy, and “doing drugs,” so it’s not like he’s a real person; he, too, must be marginalized. How depressing.
Yeah, my wife flipped to that channel last week to tune into the show that comes on after that and I caught two of the cops doing some bizarre cop-finger-bump while bragging that they pull over and search 100 people a day just to find one person in possession of drugs.
Otherwise, I’ve just seen the clips people have been putting up of the one deputy cheerfully saying it’s always a good time to taser someone… makes me glad I don’t usually watch TV.
Take some time to watch some cops if you get the chance..try to talk to one of them,or,better yet try to talk to two of them that are setting together…it`s too funny…These so called Humans are not Human at all…I bet their robots…it`s just too funny I see no evidence of Brain Activity at all…it`s a “Just doing my job mam”..just doing what I was told to do mam…ha ha like I said…no sign of any normal brain activity..NONE!!!
Jerry,
I agree that there are more than a fair share of those kinds of officers who have turned into not much more than uncompassionate automatons rife with a heavy “us vs them” chip on their shoulders… I’ve heard them and seen them in action too… and report about all too many each day.
But there are still some out there who do try to hold with the public service aspect of their job that so many others utterly ignore. Sure, they seem to get more and more rare due to the isolation they face for not being part of the culture of silence and they tend to be pushed out more aggressively than those officers who have long records of misconduct, but they are out there.
Hopefully, some day, we can make that type of officer the norm instead of the exception.
Police behave the way they do because they don’t need to satisfy customers. They are funded through theft, not customer patronage. Same thing for judges, who will stand behind the goons 100% of the time, for the same reasons. It’s a contradiction to expect anything different. Yeah, they are dullards, but not as stupid as the average voter who “represents away” his freedom in the voting both, perpetuating collectivism through “majority rule” and abdicating personal self government. “Government” is an employment scam for politicians–the scum bucket opportunists that have no productive capacity, but insist that you have “permits” for everything. This is nothing more than hall-pass and potty-pass for grown adults. So we have institutionalized elevating the non-productive that produce nothing, as Uber-menchen to the productive, and to which the productive must apply for “permission” to do just about anything.
Think that is an overstatement? Consider 300 million livestock that have been robbed into penury. They believe everything the rancher says. When they realize that they can no longer afford veterinary care, whom do they ask for help? Yup, the very rancher that robbed them blind. The rancher doesn’t need to listen to them. Besides, he’s too busy on the phone making an appointment for them at the slaughter house.
Police are stupid because they don’t need to be smart. Voters are stupid because they don’t see they are participating in their own suckering.
In a way, at least these stupid TLC ads are honest. It’s a closer representation of police work then “law and order”. If real cops were even remotely like the actors on that show, you wouldn’t be writing about “The Thumper” with 13 allegations against him.
I don’t even know what to say about that CT story….
The Police have a problem with distancing themselves from people in general. The i am so above everyone thinking. Usually when this thinking occurs it all comes crashing down around them. Like their marriages have a high failure rate and their drinking problems they have. Its too bad i have seen it when they come in contact with a law abiding citizen they don’t know how to deal with them.
A rockford man was killed by police in a church daycare last week. The unarmed suspect was fleeing police and ran into the daycare. One officer said he was shot because he was struggling with their service revolver. Oddly enough that’s not what the witnesses say. They say he came out with his hands up and face down and was shot. Also the children at the daycare witnessed the shooting.
Lisa,
Yes, I saw that story and we had it in our news feed on the 30th. From what I recall the man was reportedly giving up with his hands in the air when police shot him in the pre-school area of a local church in front of several witnesses. The community has been in an uproar and the matter has been getting a lot of local attention, which is good… but I’m sure it was incredibly traumatic for those kids to see.
Thank you for talking about it.
