Well, I’m turning 40-years-old tomorrow so I’m deciding to take the day off. So I won’t be updating the news feed or doing anything with the site tomorrow. It’s not because I have anything planned, I don’t. Fortunately we don’t have any money to mark the occasion with horrifying “lordy lordy look who’s 40″ balloons and other merchandise intended to spark introspection into one’s mortality .
I’m not really worried about getting old, I’m sort of surprised I survived some pretty scary situations through my life and figure I’m living on borrowed time each day anyway. Besides, I’ve lived a good life, I’ve helped more people than I can count and figure that’s legacy enough for me. So, no need to find trophy wives or drive a sports car either. In fact, despite my wife’s consternation, I don’t mind those bits of gray encroaching at the fringes.
Sure, it would be nice to sit out somewhere and have a few drinks with friends, it’s been a long time since I’ve done something like that, years I think… but, since I can’t, I’ll just try to relax a little bit between looking for work on the job boards and carpet-bombing my resume to any potential employer who looks like they might be interested instead, maybe even take a little nap or two. After all, why shouldn’t it be nothing too different than any other day, that’s all it is anyway.
So, if you find reports you think I should know about, please do feel free to send them my way, I’ll record them on the news feed when I return. I’m also disabling comments while I’m gone so I don’t have to clean up 100′s of spam comments when I get back.

You are correct, this project is an important legacy, and one with the potential to do even more good once it gets the proper media attention it deserves. Given the severity of the issue, it’s still hard to believe you’re the ONLY ONE tracking police abuse nationwide…
I wish there was some way to block all that spam. What do other websites do to stop it?
