[...] A Riverside County California Sheriff’s Office investigation into complaints of misconduct at a substation has sustained some of the complaints. However, thanks to that state’s Law Enforcement Officer’s Bill of Rights legislation we’ll never know what misconduct complaints were sustained nor how many deputies were involved. Bet you can’t wait until that legislation goes national. [...]

Please keep us posted on this. Anybody have any contact info for Mr. Stupak (D-MI) or Paulsen (R-MN)? They've obviously never been to this site!

I think they need to hear from the public.

Meh, Joe says lots of stuff... I'm sure he's quoted both numbers at some time or another, so you're probably safe.

If it's not too much trouble can you fix the number on my comment? I believe good old Joe actually said he put 100,000 total new cops on the street. I think 40,000 was the number he claimed to have put in the east coast, or the DC area.

Thanks Joe, good job

Well, what's interesting about this bill is that when a similar bill in Utah was introduced that would have kept misconduct records sealed in that state after a highly publicized taser incident there was a fair amount of uproar... now that the US government is considering mandating that all states do the same thing this bill hasn't even been mentioned anywhere in the news or blogosphere.

Like I said, even though the bill failed to make it out of committee the last few times it was offered up, with the shift in congress towards those who supported it last time, it really looks like this bill has a chance at getting through and passing. Especially with a president who may be eager to offer proof to police officers everywhere that he supports them after Gates-Gate and since his own VP has a personal interest in this bill.

Thanks for the comment.

I'll bet alot of people were unaware that Biden, who made us "safer" by sicking 40,000 more cops on the streets, also started the Peace Officers Bill of Rights.

Does "H.R. 1972" have strong support?
